My research article “Energy Dissipation Analysis of Elastic-Plastic Materials”, which was accepted by Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, is now available online! You can go to its page on Science Direct, my research gate profile or the publication page on my website to download a copy of this paper.
This journal paper presents an energy dissipation analysis framework that is based on thermodynamics. Theoretical formulations for different energy components are derived and applied in the Real ESSI Simulator for finite element simulations. One main contribution of this paper is that the separation of plastic work into plastic free energy and energy dissipation removes a common mistake made in a number of publications, where energy dissipation can attain negative values (energy production) which is thermodynamically impossible.
Cheers! Have a great night, everyone!
Best regards,
Han
